Liverpool jumped to the top of the EPL table thanks to a 3-1 win over Cardiff City. In the win, Luis Suarez‘s impressive performance ended Liverpool’s five-game league losing streak to Cardiff City which dates back to 1957. It is both team’s first meeting since 1959.
A day after signing a contract extension with Liverpool, Suarez continued to show the world why he is one of the best. Additionally, it seems like this season has brought a changed Suarez. In the current season, he controls his emotions better and hasn’t bit anyone like last year. Also, he has been a more productive player this season.
In Saturday’s matchup against Cardiff, Suarez scored twice and assisted on another. His game performance speaks volumes about Suarez. On the second goal, he selflessly passed the ball off to Raheem Sterling for the goal. Good players know when to shoot and when to pass. Suarez showed that knowledge against Cardiff.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers commented on this selflessness post-game.
“The one for today is unselfish,” Rodgers said to reporters. “First of all, it is for the second goal, he’s through on goal and you don’t see too many strikers do that. It shows you the team player that he is. I thought he showed great humility as well, when Daniel Agger came on the field, he brought the armband straight to him because he’s the vice-captain.It shows you the humility of the man. Two brilliant goals, a genuine world-class player. The pivotal point of the team is really exciting and dynamic at the moment.”
