Paris Saint Germain and Lille will face each other this Sunday at The Parc Des Princes in Paris for the last game of the year in Ligue 1. The Parisians, leaders with 43 points and already ensured to finish the year in first position, will go seven points ahead of their Sunday’s opponents. Lille, third with 39 points will overtake Monaco and comeback just one point behind the champions.

This game will be a battle between the two best defenses in France. PSG has conceded only 11 goals in 18 games and Lille has done even better with only six goals conceded. Victorious against Saint Etienne in the League Cup on Wednesday, the Parisians will have to play without their striker Edinson Cavani, currently in Uruguay for personal issues. For Lille, Rene Girard will have his entire squad at his disposal for this difficult trip top the Capital.

PSG coach Laurent Blanc will use his traditional 4-3-3 with Salvatore Sirigu between the sticks. Captain Thiago Silva and Alex will be in central defense. Dutch international Gregory Van Der Wiel will be at right-back while French under 20 international Lucas Digne will deputize for Brazilian international Maxwell at left-back. Thiago Motta will play his usual holding midfielder role with Blaise Matuidi on his left and Marco Verratti on his right. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, top scorer of the league with 14 goals will be the lone striker flanked by Ezequiel Lavezzi  and Lucas Moura who is likely to start as a right winger  in the absence of Cavani.

Rene Girard will once again count  on his  goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama to stop the Parisians attacks. The Nigerian goalkeeper has kept 14 clean sheets in 18 games so far this season. In what should be a 4-3-1-2 formation, centre-backs Marco Basa and Simon Kjaer will be in charge of protecting him. Pape Souare (left)and Frank Beria (right) will be the full backs. In midfield, captain Rio Mavuba will lead his team from his holding midfield position. The French international will be flanked by Idrissa Gueye on his right and Florent Balmont on his left. Marvin Marvin will occupy his favorite number ten role behind the two strikers Salomon Kalou and Nolan Roux.

Prediction: PSG 3-1 Lille

Unbeaten at home this season, PSG will go five points ahead of Monaco in case of a win on Sunday.  It’s difficult to imagine Laurent Blanc’s men not seizing that opportunity.Despite having the best defense in Ligue 1, Lille will have a very hard time  against The Parisians who average 3 goals per game on their home turf.
