At the beginning of the season, I had written down my Premier League predictions. Now with 19 games played, let’s look at Cardiff City and see how they’ve done. This is what I had initially said about their chances:

I didn’t see how these guys could stay up. That said, every season there is a surprise, and I think maybe Cardiff could be the one to provide that.

Currently 16th in the league and without a manager, it is tough to know where to start with this club. Certainly, the easiest thing to say is that they need a manager. Malky Mackay was finally let go after a crazy set of events in recent weeks and has really tainted the reasonably good start the Bluebirds had.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been tipped to take over, and owner Vincent Tan has promised almost unlimited resources for the new man. I wondered where I had seen a storyline like this before, and it was last season when the Queens Park Rangers sacked Mark Hughes, installed Harry Redknapp and spent bundles of money to try and stay up. That didn’t work, and I do not think this will either, and that’s a shame for the Cardiff fans who should be enjoying this season.
