Premiership Midseason Review: Chelsea
At the beginning of the season, I had written down my Premier League predictions. Now with 19 games played, let’s look at Chelsea and see how they’ve done. Here is what I said during the preseason:
This was a tough one to call. I really think that this team and Manchester City will start the campaign flying … I went for Chelsea because their manager has Premier League experience … the signings they have managed to get so far give them the edge.
Currently at third, I had the Chelsea side as champions. I am not sure I want to change that right now, but I am not as certain as I was after some of the results and performances. As the New Year comes, progression in the Champions League and FA Cup may take its toll on the squad.
Mourinho will have his team on the road against Southampton and Hull in the league, as well as an FA Cup away match to an in-form Derby County before their next home game against Manchester United. I think their form over the next few games will be key and of course, any purchases made will be crucial as well.
