Premiership Midseason Review: Crystal Palace

At the beginning of the season, I had written down my Premier League predictions. Now with 19 games played, let’s look at Crystal Palace and see how they’ve done. In the season preview I had written, I wasn’t sure Palace had made the signings needed to stay up:

Although I think Palace will go down in their very first season, you have to look at the positives … I think the signings have experience, but can they really handle the pace of the Premiership anymore?

This was before Marouane Chamakh had signed and my concern was that the four strikers at the club had a combined age of 130-years. Dwight Gayle was always going to be an unknown entity, but when Chamakh was signed and then Tony Pulis was installed as Manager, I think now you have to give them just a little bit more consideration to stay up.

Currently just above the relegation zone going into the new year, they were tough away against Manchester City and will be looking to get some distance between them and the bottom three with the next few games. They should certainly be looking forward to home ties against Norwich, Stoke and Hull during January. Any points in the away tie to Tottenham should be considered a bonus.
