Premiership Midseason Review: Manchester City

At the beginning of the season, I had written down my Premier League predictions. Now with 19 games played, let’s look at Manchester City and see how they’ve done. Back in August, this is what I said:

All the signings coming to the Etihad are quality and have shown good things during preseason. Despite the signings already on the books, it is still clear City need to strengthen that center-back role.

Now, Manchester City find themselves in that very same position. They are in the league cup semifinal, and have accomplished the task of reaching the knockout stage of the Champions League. Player injuries have not been kind to Manuel Pellegrini, and they will now be forced to navigate the month of January and the various cup competitions that the new year will bring.

The team will also have three of the league fixtures being away from the Etihad, which will not make things any easier given the health problems that they will have to deal with. Getting healthy players back will definitely play an important role in how Manchester City will perform going forward in their remaining matchups.
