Premiership Midseason Review: Southampton
At the beginning of the season, I had written down my Premier League predictions. Now with 19 games played, let’s look at Southampton and see how they’ve done. If I was trying to pull a fast one, I would try to make you believe that I made a mistake with my Norwich City preview and Southampton preview. What I had written about Norwich in August could certainly fit for Southampton, and this is what I wrote about Southampton:
Saints fans should be feeling a little less nervous going into this season. Be cautious though as anything can happen and sometimes the second season is the one that gets you. I think they will slip a little position-wise from last season, and it will be scrappy towards the end.
Yes, Southampton have been slipping down the league recently, but I think that has more to do with the squad losing their no. 1 goalkeeper a few games back, which has really hindered their progress. Southampton had still been scoring goals during their slide, but the problem was that they were conceding more too. The quicker they get Artur Boruc back and contributing to their development, the better Saints fans can breath.
