It must tiring for Everton Football Club. They lost their manager David Moyes and arguably one of their best players, Marouane Fellaini, to Manchester United. If that wasn’t enough, United have near pestered Everton to purchase their star left-back Leighton Baines for nearly two years, and now they’re in a hot pursuit to land Everton’s English sensation Ross Barkley.
Barkley has been tipped to have a breakout year for a few years now, but 2013 has definitely been his year. The 20-year old Barkley has scored three goals and won three caps for England. On top of these impressive statistics, the star has been a top performer and earned comparisons to some of the games greatest ever players. This has put him on the radar of the world’s top clubs.
When Everton manager Roberto Martinez was asked by the press if his club could resist bids for Ross, he replied “Yes. Absolutely. There is not even a doubt.”
United have their fair share of problems and they do need new players, but is another Everton player the answer? With the rough past between the two clubs, it looks like Everton would demand a top fee, possibly more from the Red Devils. The fee being reported is near $80 million, and some have suggested that wouldn’t be nearly enough to secure his services.
It’s clear that United are in desperate need of a talented player to create a spark within their roster, and it’s clear that Everton are producing talented players, but will Barkley be tempted to leave his boyhood club to chase trophies, similar to Wayne Rooney‘s similar departure between the clubs?
