Edin Dzeko Should Be a Top Target During January Transfer Window

It’s no secret that Edin Dzeko has fallen down in the selection order for manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The Bosnian international is no longer a starter – since Alvaro Negredo and Sergio Aguero are the forwards Pellegrini employs frequently – even though he has enough skill to start. He is not getting many chances at Manchester City, and it could mean that the former Wolfsburg star will leave the Etihad Stadium sooner rather than later.

Based on his proven ability to be an effective goal scorer, Dzeko should have plenty of teams after him. There are three sides that are already tracking him in Inter Milan, AC Milan and Valencia. The Spanish outfit doesn’t figure to be a strong player to land the Bosnian star, but the two Serie A sides are a completely different story.

It’s no secret that Inter is looking to revamp the team, and the arrival of tycoon Erick Thohir should give the team plenty of funds to make all kinds of moves. Even though Rodrigo Palacio has been as reliable as it gets up front, another player could be used to pair up with the Argentina international. In that sense Dzeko appears to be a perfect match as he’s more of a central striker and Palacio is more adept to operate in a wider role.

AC Milan, on the other hand, needs help in several areas of the pitch, and Dzeko would add a whole new dimension to the team’s attack. The presence of Mario Balotelli and Kaka’ should give him plenty of space inside the box — an area where the Bosnia star is very dangerous.

Edin Dzeko still draws a lot of interest all over Europe, and if he’s made available plenty of sides are rumored to be in the mix to land him. Inter and Milan are two teams that have already expressed interest, but there should be many more knocking on his door during January.
