Sir Alex Ferguson‘s Manchester United replacement, David Moyes, is struggling to fill his shoes. The greatest coach of all time stepped aside and recommended Moyes as the perfect replacement. It’s not working so far. Old Trafford used to be a place teams feared playing at, but not this year. Manchester United have suffered five defeats at Old Trafford with a little over a half of the season gone. How can Moyes get his team to win on a regular basis again?
It seems like Moyes has a different starting 11 in each game. Yes, Sir Alex did that too, but he was a tactical mastermind. Moyes is not, and he should look to find his best 11 and put some faith in them for a long while. Injuries will happen and evidently changes will be required, but some United fans can’t guess half of the players that will start as Moyes likes to change things drastically in every game.
Moyes needs a healthy Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie. It’s easy to point the finger at his poor coaching, but Sir Alex did have the pair healthy all of last season, Moyes has struggled to pair them together more than a few times. Both are currently injured and he needs them healthy more than ever.
Although Moyes insists United will not sign anybody this January, they should. The team needed a fresh spark to mark his stint in charge, and it’s not too late. The right signing or two, could provide a boost and a fresh set of energy that the entire franchise so desperately needs.
It’s clear United need to make changes. It may take time to rediscover last season’s form, but by implementing these few things, Moyes and his United team can start winning on a regular basis again.
