Manchester United: 7 Players Who Could Leave At Season’s End
7 Players Close To Leave Manchester United?
It’s no secret that Manchester United are in a slump right now after three straight defeats and as it has been the case during the whole season, David Moyes hasn’t been able to take full responsibility for that.
The Scottish manager hasn’t assumed his role in the huge failure that has been Manchester United’s season so far, and instead of recognizing his own mistakes, he has decided to make big changes in the squad and will reportedly let go a huge number of players once the season is over.
Some of the players who will leave were never going to be able to gain a spot in the first team, while others have been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford for quite some time now. Aside from that, there are also veterans who were a big part of the team only a few seasons ago, but no longer feature in the renovation project Moyes seems to be thinking about.
According to reports from the English press, up to seven players are going to leave Manchester United once the season is over, and some could even leave the team for free. It’s clear that Moyes is looking to build his own team at Old Trafford, and these elements apparently don’t fit with the plan.
Without further ado, please join me through this slideshow as we check out seven players who appear to be a lock to leave Manchester United once this season ends.
7. Anders Lindegaard - GK
The Danish goalkeeper hasn’t been able to overcome David De Gea for a starting spot, and he is likely to leave to gain more minutes elsewhere since Ben Amos and Sam Johnstone appear to be ready to back up the Spaniard.
6. Rio Ferdinand - CB
The English icon is likely to retire at the end of the season and as it stands, it seems like Manchester United didn’t want to extend his deal anyway. With players like Phil Jones and Chris Smalling ready to take the next step, Ferdinand is suddenly forced to leave the team once the year is over.
5. Nemanja Vidic - CB
The Serbian star is reportedly unwilling to negotiate a new contract and since his current deal ends at the ends of this campaign, he will abandon Manchester United as a free agent. Several teams are expected to compete for his signature in the summer if he’s made available.
4. Patrice Evra - LB
The French left-back has been the captain this season, but it seems like Moyes would like to go younger at the back, making him expendable. He still has plenty left in the tank and a return to France, where both PSG and AS Monaco could be interested, can’t be ruled out.
3. Anderson - CM
The Brazilian midfielder thrived with FC Porto and the Brazilian National Team before arriving to Old Trafford, but it seems that he has been getting worse each year. He is not even playing in Cup games, and he fell out of favor with both the manager and the management.
2. Nani - RW
The explosive winger was never able to replace Cristiano Ronaldo and with the emergence of Adnan Januzaj as a star talent, Nani is likely to leave once the season is over. Juventus are reportedly interested in him and if a good offer arrives, he could even leave the Red Devils during the January transfer market.
1. Javier Hernandez - ST
‘Chicharito’ hasn’t been productive in his super-sub role and after falling behind Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order, he is another player likely to leave once the season is over. David Moyes doesn’t seem to like his style and if he’s listed for a transfer, several teams could be on him as he is a proven player in a top league.
