Manchester United Aiming To Sign Luke Shaw Before Transfer Deadline
Manchester United have a lot of questions to answer both this season and going into the next one. David Moyes’ team appears to be out of the title race, and rebuilding the squad doesn’t seem to be a far-fetched idea at this point.
Players like Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra are all rumored to leave the squad once this season is over, and while there are enough center backs to replace the longtime duo, the same can’t be said about the French international. Alex Büttner and Fabio aren’t the answer so The Red Devils are looking to secure the signature of one of the brightest talents in the Premier League this year.
According to reports, the Old Trafford outfit is rumored to be speeding things up to land 18-year-old Luke Shaw who has been one of the brightest players for Southampton this season. Chelsea are also rumored to be scouting the left-back. While it’s true that both teams could use him, The Red Devils could be more aggressive in his pursuit after failing to land the likes of Leighton Baines and Fabio Coentrao before the start of this season.
Signing Shaw is not going to be easy, though, as the defender just signed a new deal during this past summer. The Saints could part ways with the youngster “if they receive a good offer,” and Manchester United is rapidly running out of options to strengthen the team before the end of the transfer window. They could easily make a splash to secure the services of the coveted defender.
Shaw would be a nice option to compete with Evra for the starting spot and could be used as an insurance policy looking towards the future of the squad. Moyes needs him on the team, and his arrival would surely give United a boost on the defensive side of the ball.
