Manchester United Looking At Toni Kroos To Strengthen Midfield?

It took a while but it seems like Manchester United decided to make a splash in the January transfer window to improve their pathetic season so far.

David Moyes had been reluctant to make a move despite all the rumors and the exit of Anderson and the arrival of Juan Mata – who signed from Chelsea – the only two major moves so far. Players like Fabio Coentrao and Mario Mandzukic have also been linked with the Old Trafford outfit, but there’s a German star that could be close to landing at the Premier League before the end of the month.

According to reports, David Moyes is extremely keen to strengthen the midfield zone of the team and his preferred option is Bayern Munich’s star Toni Kroos. Ross Barkley and Ramires were highlighted as options, but the former Everton gaffer is apparently leaning towards Kroos as he’s a young player that has a fair share of experience under his belt.

The move would make a lot of sense for all parties. Kroos is highly regarded as one of the best young players in Germany, but hasn’t had many minutes under Pep Guardiola’s management and they could use the money in a transfer deal to improve other areas of the team. Kroos could use the playing time to get fit in the upcoming 2014 World Cup and The Red Devils could use him as a central midfielder. He would be a massive upgrade over the likes of Tom Cleverley and even Marouane Fellaini, who signed this past summer, but hasn’t lived up to the hype so far.

Manchester United would need to act quickly if they want to land the 24-year-old as the transfer window will close by the end of the month. One thing is certain: Kroos would improve the team’s midfield and he would be a solid signing towards the present and the future of the squad.
