Could Arsenal Land Julian Draxler Before Transfer Deadline?
Arsenal have enjoyed a solid season so far, and after years of being underachievers and not being able to celebrate a Premier League title, The Gunners are currently leading the league. A strong performance in the final months of the year could be what they need to end the nine-year title drought.
The Gunners have had solid performances this season from the midfield area where Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Özil have received constant praise for what they have given to the squad, but there is not much depth behind them. If Arsenal wants to maintain their pace down the stretch they should act quickly and try to sign German star Julian Draxler.
The Schalke 04 youngster has been long linked to The Gunners, and Arsene Wenger has already expressed interest in signing the attacking midfielder who can also play as a winger and could even be effective as a striker. He’s a lot like Robin van Persie who started his career on the wing before Wenger converted him into one of the most prolific strikers in the world.
Draxler does have a huge price tag on his shoulders and Schalke aren’t keen to part ways with him, especially considering that the upcoming UEFA Champions League tie against Real Madrid is only a few weeks away.
Arsenal has been reported to be holding talks with Schalke to land the German international during this month, but an agreement hasn’t been reached yet. They should act quickly and maybe break the bank in order to bring him to the Emirates Stadium. He seems to be the perfect piece missing from the puzzle, and he is talented enough to make an instant impact at the Premier League level.
