Tottenham Hotspur welcome Manchester City to White Hart Lane in arguably the most anticipated match of round 23 of the Premier League along with the Merseyside derby. The Spurs are a completely different outfit under Tim Sherwood, and they have been in fine form in the League with four wins on the trot. The club’s unbeaten streak under their new manager will be put to a stern test tomorrow when Manuel Pellegrini‘s marauding City team visit them as Tottenham look to gain a measure of revenge for the 6-0 thrashing they suffering under Andre Villas Boas at the Etihad in November.
The match might seem to have occurred a long time back, but the scars would definitely still be fresh for Tottenham. City are beginning to look ominous on the road too recently, but a string of away losses suffered during the early phase of the season has dented them from establishing an impressive lead at the top of the table.
Sergio Aguero‘s return to full match fitness has given a huge boost to City’s prospects of contending for four different trophies, and Edin Dzeko is more than an able cover for Alvaro Negredo who is recovering from a shoulder injury. Pellegrini will have one eye already on the looming Champions League encounter against Barcelona in February and would be hoping to keep his strong squad fit and firing on all cylinders in the lead-up to the knockout fixtures.
Spurs’ resurgence could be short-lived if they let City dominate, and Sherwood needs his players to be at their best to contain City’s relentless attacking prowess. While a point would be a decent outcome in such a big game, Sherwood might be looking to get all three to firmly stay in the midst of a Champions League spot battle with Liverpool and Everton. After leading his team to a wonderful victory over Manchester United recently, Emmanuel Adebayor would be hoping to do the same to his former club.
