Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has finally squashed the endless speculations of German sensation Julian Draxler‘s transfer to Arsenal. During the pre-match press conference ahead of the Crystal Palace game, Wenger has admitted that the club is most likely to bring in new players before the window closes but reiterated that there is no truth in the arrival of Draxler from his current club Schalke.
The prospect of seeing a very talented younger player touted to be the next Thierry Henry has been exciting the club’s fans around the world, but it now looks like they have to wait until next season for any possibility of it happening.
Wenger has praised his squad’s performances this season and took special delight in the competitive nature shown by his players on the pitch. The team has displayed immense maturity and has ground out impressive results in many games when not being at its best. This has enabled it to stay toe-to-toe with Manuel Pellegrini‘s Manchester City team which currently sits atop the table and leads Arsenal by a point.
The boss also stressed the need to finish the season strongly as Arsenal continues its quest for a trophy. The team is in the thick of the Premier League title race and the FA Cup with the help of marked improvements on the pitch compared to last season when they lost out to lower league opponents in the Cups and were far behind Manchester United in the League at this stage. There is enough talent available on the team to do without Draxler this season and achieve the club’s needs to win that elusive trophy and bring joy to a starved North London.
