5 Southampton Storylines to Follow as Season's End Nears

Southampton have been somewhat of a surprise package in this season's English Premier League, and they make for a very interesting team to follow for the remainder of the season. From Adam Lallana's wonder goals to Rickie Lambert's thumping efforts, Southampton are one of the finest teams to watch at this moment in time. 

Southampton currently sit eighth in the Premier League, only a few points behind defending champions Manchester United. When they sacked boss Nigel Adkins last season, many dismissed their chances of success, but Mauricio Pochettino came in and transformed the team in every way. Although he couldn't speak a word of English, he has appeared to find it easy to get his message across and the players appear very happy under his guidance.

Southampton have had its problems too, yet several of their key players have been in and around the England squad, and they're tipped to keep fighting and possibly be selected in England's 2014 World Cup squad. On top of this, many of their talented players are being linked with massive transfers to bigger Premier League clubs, showing how well Southampton are doing. 

After developing talents like Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale, it's no wonder Europe's eyes are on the lookout for "the next big thing" from the Southampton ranks. With a small amount of games remaining, there are endless of possibilities for Southampton to endure, but what will come their way?
