FC Porto have been riding a rough wave domestically and they were on the verge of receiving bad news at Eintracht Frankfurt, but they managed to evade an embarrassing defeat to advance to the Round of 16 in the Europa League.

The German side continued right where they left off from the first leg as they scored two straight goals. Then, Porto seemed to wake up by taking care of the ball a bit more in addition to tightening up on defense. By doing so, they frustrated the home side and managed to hold them at bay in a 3-3 thriller.

The player of the game would have to be none other than French international Eliaquim Mangala, who not only settled the defense but managed to hit a brace to keep his side in it. With this type of game, he proves once again why he is irreplaceable for the Portuguese champions. They will be lucky if they can keep him on the roster beyond this summer as some of the biggest clubs are hunting for his signature.

The return of Ricardo Quaresma has benefited this club nicely as his skills, technique and experience have all played a factor in both legs. In fact, he is slowly but surely becoming a cornerstone in the starting 11. He and his teammates have to come together to help push this team even further — and perhaps win the Europa League.

Quite frankly, the team has quite a few holes and the coaching is not helping them by any means. Sometimes, the players have to step up on their own in order to save themselves. If they continue doing so, they can go back to their winning ways.
