With three players leaving camp over the weekend and only one being added to the roster, Jurgen Klinsmann does not have a lot of options for his starting lineup against Ukraine on Wednesday. The USMNT travels to Cyprus on the last official FIFA friendly date prior to the World Cup with some players looking to make an impression and others getting the call because of proximity. Regardless of the roster, expect a 4-2-3-1 with Klinsmann putting his best players on the field with World Cup preparation in mind.

Tim Howard

Howard will start and there isn’t really any question. The keeper position may be the most defined on the entire team as Howard is followed by Brad Guzan. Cody Cropper is in camp to learn from the veterans.

Edgar Castillo – John Brooks – Oguchi Onyewu – Geoff Cameron

There aren’t a lot of options in camp for the back four. Castillo is the only left back in camp unless you count Fabian Johnson, but he has not been playing in the back for Klinsmann. With the coach’s faith in DaMarcus Beasley it would seem likely that Johnson is in the midfield. Of course, Klinsmann is good for a surprise, and the midfield is deeper on this roster than the defense. Jonathan Spector and Alfredo Morales are the only substitutes, although Morales has been playing in the middle for Ingolstadt.

Fabian Johnson – Clint DempseyAlejandro Bedoya

Jermaine Jones – Sacha Kljestan

There are a lot of ways Klinsmann could go with the midfield. Dempsey should be in his expected World Cup role behind the striker. Bedoya’s Gold Cup play on the right was impressive for the most part, so that role will be revived. Danny Williams could get the start in favor of Kljestan if Klinsmann sees him as a possible last minute addition to the Brazil roster. Aron Johannsson and Brek Shea seem to have more of an impact as substitutes, and Johannsson is more of a striker substitute even though there is talk of him starting on the wing.

Jozy Altidore

Klinsmann has to give Altidore the chance to prove himself after not even making the bench in the FA Cup final on Sunday. Juan Agudelo and Terrance Boyd could be used as substitutes.
