Longtime Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic had already announced he was leaving the Old Trafford outfit at the end of the season, and his destination is now known by the rest of the world.
According to reports, the Serbian international has decided to join Inter Milan and now he will play in the Serie A as soon as next season. Despite losing his place as a starter with the Premier League side, the center-back is considered one of the best defenders in the world, and he will be an excellent addition to an Inter side that is looking to get back into the top scene of Italian soccer.
The Giuseppe Meazza side has been looking to add quality to their defensive line, and the arrival of Vidic should ease some of their issues in the backline. The presence of players like Andrea Ranocchia and Juan Jesus clearly wasn’t enough for a team that has struggled to defend in front of their star goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. The Serbian central defender, however, should add plenty of experience and talent to what’s already a depleted defense.
This is a huge blow for Manchester United as they lost one of their key players in recent years, but Inter surely benefits from this transfer. The presence of Vidic is a huge step forward in terms of getting back to respectability, and the quality and experience he would add to the team will prove to be invaluable for a side that desperately needs some defensive leadership.
