Week 2 of MLS has come and gone but not without a very eventful weekend. More clubs had their home openers and some players made their debuts for the season; some clubs are already making a statement. Sure, it's still very early in the season, but Week 2 was a great week for MLS. Here are five key storylines from the weekend.

Chivas USA Whitecaps Week 2 MLS

Chivas USA continues to stay ahead as they tied against the Vancouver Whitecaps at home in Stubhub Center in Carson, Ca. Chivas has a lot to prove this season as they have become MLS-owned and will re-brand next season.

4. Houston Continues Winning Streak

Houston Dynamo Week 2 MLS

The Houston Dynamo have been an amazing club in the last few years, but always falls short of bringing home the Cup. So far, they are the only club in the league to have two straight wins, but it is still early to call them the best club. Will Bruin, however, continues to awe all with his scoring abilities. Watch out for him this season.

After losing their first match against Chivas USA, head coach Frank Yallop decided to change up the lineup and put more new players on the pitch. It did the trick as Chicago was able to bring a point home after drawing against Portland Timbers. Mike Magee has still not set foot on the pitch, and I think he may be the missing piece for Chicago to be victorious.

These two west coast conference clubs had quite the battle at Buck Shaw Stadium. In true Earthquakes fashion, they scored the equalizing goal in the 95th minute for a 3-3 draw. What a busy match and an intense moment for San Jose, whose last-minute equalizers often feel like wins. It's truly not over until the referee blows the last whistle.

Toronto FC promised a brand new club this season, and that is exactly what it delivered. Jermain Defoe was incredible as he scored two goals against the Seattle Sounders in their own turf. If you missed this match, I feel bad for you; it was intense and amazing, and seeing Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey playing on opposing clubs was just the icing on the cake.
