Who knew replacing Sir Alex Ferguson would be this difficult? Well, all of us. With the deficiencies Ferguson left in the current United squad, it was certain to be a nightmare job for somebody. Exciting, but a nightmare. The season has been a horror show and the rumors surrounding David Moyes are loud and clear. The Scotsman won't be going anywhere though. Here's why.

There are very, very few managers around who United could look towards if they were to actually sack Moyes. Jurgen Klopp is the obvious name, but he has stated before that he will never break his contract with Borussia Dortmund, which runs until 2018. They are pretty much left with managers who have potential, but who have yet to prove themselves on the biggest stage -- just like Moyes. Ever heard of the frying pan and the fire?

Moyes was hired for United based on what he accomplished at Everton. He did those things over a period of 11 years -- years, not months. Nothing has changed now, he's still the same manager they hired back then. Now is the time to back their initial judgement and judge again in the future, when the Scotsman has had a fair amount of time to be assessed. To sack Moyes now would be to panic -- nothing more.

Since the time of Sir Matt Busby at Old Trafford, United have never had a tradition of sacking managers. 18 months has been the minimum and four years and above is the norm. Everybody gets time. With Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson still around the club, those traditions will be upheld. Moyes was handed a six-year deal when he arrived. That isn't a coincidence -- it's a message of belief in this manager over that period of time.

The greatness of Sir Alex Ferguson is a big problem for Moyes right now. Ferguson, by a miracle, managed to win the league with these players, and now people expect unrealistic targets from this squad. Top four? Take Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley, Rio Ferdinand, Antonio Valencia, Nani, etc. Would any of these players be on any other top-four team? The answer is no. So how is Moyes supposed to get them there? He needs better players.

Sir Alex Ferguson is now a director at Old Trafford, and he obviously has a say. Ferguson personally chose Moyes and for him to renege on that after not even a year is highly unlikely. It's also unlikely the Glazers would go over Ferguson's head to sack the manager they let him choose. Ferguson is the best manager of all time. United fans should surely trust him to make decisions. In time, Moyes will be judged -- just not yet.
