If you are not excited about this season of MLS, then you may want to reconsider being a fan of soccer in America. Even though the season is just two weeks into a long year, there has already been tremendous drama from teams and players that no one could have predicted. Teams like the Portland Timbers are struggling to barely get a tie while other teams like the Houston Dynamo continue to run over opposing teams. What will happen next?!

The New England Revolution have not played well in their first two games; that is really no secret to anyone. Diego Fagundez continues to play great soccer, but with his team not performing well around him, it makes it difficult for the club to succeed. New England plays their first game at home this season against the Vancouver Whitecaps, a team that is currently in fine form. The Revs have a lofty task ahead but have what it takes to win.

After scoring two goals in his first ever MLS game, Toronto FC forward Jermain Defoe has the world bowing before him. This upcoming clash between TFC and DC United will be the battle of the big spenders. Each club spent tons of cash this past offseason and will look to their big signings to lead them to victory. United did not start off their season well, so a win against TFC would certainly boost team confidence.

A rematch of week one action, Real Salt Lake and the LA Galaxy will both fight hard for this victory. Each team is looking to gain ground in the Western Conference, and a win Saturday would certainly help that. LA is coming off a CCL match so key players may not be back to full health, while RSL has had a whole week to recover from their 3-3 tie against the San Jose Earthquakes last week. This game will be non-stop action for 90 minutes.

No person in MLS thought that Chivas USA would be undefeated after two weeks into the new season. Chivas has played exceptionally well so far and is led by the attacking play of Erick Torres and Mauro Rosales. Each player has proven to be crucial to the team’s success. Chivas will take on a dangerous FC Dallas team as the club looks to stay unbeaten and continue to push for a playoff position.

If the team had never signed Gaston Fernandez, Portland would be 0-2-0 to start the season. Fernandez has saved the club by scoring a late goal in each of the last two games for the Timbers. This is not how fans thought the season would start for a team that is predicted to win a MLS Cup championship this season. Because of the slow start, fans have begun to doubt just how good their team actually is. A win Saturday is much needed for Portland.
