Club Liverpool proudly and deservedly defeated Tottenham by a score of 4-0 thanks to yet another disciplined and exciting home performance. With this win, they are on top of the Premier League.
Luis Suarez, a Younes Kaboul own-goal, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson were all responsible for earning Liverpool all three points today. The passing, sprinting, connecting, defending and attacking were all on point for the home side who were never going to lose this game.
Brendan Rogers is allowing his players to show their skill as long as they know when to play ball as a team. The guys know this and are taking full advantage of that fact without crossing the line. By doing so, they are winning important games.
Tottenham has a skilled roster with good individual players, but they are failing to connect as a team. Andre Villas-Boas had something going until they hit a hard slump. Now, Tim Sherwood is always showing his frustrations by blaming the players for now showing any character when they go down by a few goals.
Sitting on the sidelines and not barking out orders is a decent style … if the team knows what to do. In this case, the boys need to be yelled at all game long in order to stop making the most horrendous mistakes in their own area. Liverpool is a team that is not easily beaten but only scores when they see any sort of opening. Since Tottenham kept giving them gifts, they destroyed the frame with four decent strikes.
Liverpool still get to host Manchester City and Chelsea in matches they will have to win in order to all but guarantee winning the Premier League this season. They have the capability to do so, they just need to wipe away their nerves and give the Kop (Liverpool home fans) what they deserve: success.
