Wow, what an exciting week of soccer in MLS. Week 4 of the season certainly provided numerous storylines to keep fans excited for the rest of the year. Teams like the New York Red Bulls, Columbus Crew and New England Revolution grabbed goals right at the very end of regulation to shock their opponents.

With all of this excitement, where do all the teams rank? Here are the official Rant Sports MLS Power Rankings heading into Week 5.

DC United was so very close to finally getting their first win of the season. After a draw with the Chicago Fire, United fans at least have something positive to talk about. Currently, the team is 0-2-1, with their next game against the New England Revolution. Times may stay rough for United fans, especially with the Revs riding a wave of momentum after last week’s win.

Just like DC United, the Montreal Impact tied their fixture last week against a struggling Philadelphia Union team. With the team still trying to figure out their offense, aside from Marco Di Vaio, the Impact need to get things back on track. This week's game against the New York Red Bulls will certainly test both their offense and defense.

The San Jose Earthquakes got a taste of their own medicine last week, as the New England Revolution handed the team a stoppage time loss on a terrific individual effort from Lee Nguyen. With the loss, the Earthquakes are now last in the Western Conference standings. Chris Wondolowski did score during the game, but it looks as if the team still needs more help moving the ball offensively.

The LA Galaxy had their second bye week, and the season is only four weeks along. It certainly will be interesting to see how well the club plays after another bye week as the team takes on hometown rival Chivas USA. For probably the first time in a long time, Chivas is actually favored to win this match. Be sure to watch this exciting game on Sunday.

With only two points in their first four games, it may be close to panic time for the Portland Timbers. With all the talented players and last year's coach of the year, it is certainly surprising how poorly the Timbers have started this season. The team will not get a break as the club takes on the Seattle Sounders this weekend in the first match of the Cascadia Cup.

Even after a terrific stoppage time goal from Peguy Luyindula, the New York Red Bulls still need a lot of help. If a team like Chivas USA can take them all the way to stoppage time and hold them scoreless, there are problems. With the offense still not playing to full capacity, fans can expect the problems to continue.

Honestly, the Chicago Fire had no business tying with the last place DC United. Chicago is a far better team, and certainly should have won that game. Goalkeeper Sean Johnson can only do so much to save the team, so unless the defense wakes up and Mike Magee and the offense starts scoring more goals, it could be a long season for the Fire.

If you need to win a penalty kick, you probably should call the Colorado Rapids. The team has already collected five in the first four games of the season. Colorado certainly showed that their offense is very dangerous, but still lacks the final touches to be a dominate force in the west.

The New England Revolution finally won their first game of the season last week, thanks largely to a late Lee Nguyen goal in stoppage time. Even though the team finally got their first win, it was not a complete win. With the Revs getting their first goal of the season coming from an own-goal by a San Jose defender, the team has yet to completely win a game this year.

It is still hard to figure out exactly how good the Philadelphia Union actually are. After a draw against the Montreal Impact, the Union still have yet to assert themselves as a dominate force in the Eastern Conference.

The "goats" continue to crawl up the table in the Western Conference. It really was unfortunate that the club lost in the dying moments against the Red Bulls. Honestly, Chivas USA is one of the hottest teams in MLS right now. The team takes on hometown rival LA Galaxy this week, and is already poised to be an early favorite.

Even with Kenny Cooper's golazo, the Seattle Sounders could not stop the red-hot Columbus Crew. The Sounders will get another chance to grab three points this week against rival Portland. Seattle certainly is turing around their play and the offense has certainly found their nitch. If Cooper countinues to score goals like the one he did last, the team certainly is in for many wins this season.

It finally happened, the boys from north of the boarder met their match, aka Real Salt Lake. Toronto FC certainly was handed a shocking wake up call last week in their 3-0 loss. On top of that, star forward Jermain Defoe is ruled out for the week's upcoming match against the Columbus Crew. TFC certainly has the right players to win, but playing against a red-hot Crew team will certainly test every player on the field.

The Houston Dynamo were surprisingly dealt a loss last week to the Vancouver Whitecaps by a score of 2-1. Heading into this week, the Dynamo have a chance at redemption against in-state rival, FC Dallas. This game will test everything the team has on defense, and you can certainly expect one thriller of a match.

After another impressive win, the Vancouver Whitecaps continue to build momentum in the Western Conference. The club currently sits third behind RSL and FC Dallas. With the powerful offense, the Whitecaps will look for another win this week against the offensive heavy Colorado Rapids. Watch for numerous penalty kicks in this matchup.

Finally, the defending MLS Cup champions are starting to play like fans know them for. This game will be one you will not want to miss, especially with all of the verbal jousting between the sides this week.

FC Dallas cannot stop scoring goals at the moment. You all may be surprised to see them listed at third on this list, especially when the club is techinically the best in the league in points. FCD still has some things to work out on the defense, but is well on their way to establishing themselves as the top club in MLS.

If their record has a little better, Real Salt Lake would certainly be No. 1 on this list. Between Nick Rimando, Kyle Beckerman and Alvaro Saborio, RSL cannot be stopped. With the matchup against SKC this coming weekend, watch to see how the team attacks and defends against their arch rival.

The team to beat in MLS in the Columbus Crew, no if's and's or but's about it. With a stunning finish to their match against the Seattle Sounders, the Crew have placed themselves atop the Eastern Conference with a 3-0-0 record. Columbus takes on Toronto FC this week, and will certainly look to continue their dominate run of form.
