Manchester City have been the favorites to win the Premier League for the majority of this season. Now they find themselves in a good position, late on in the season, but with work still to do. Liverpool are top of the league, and although City have two games in hand, they also must go to Anfield to play Liverpool. City must feel like if they play at their best they will beat anybody, anywhere and the title will be theirs again.

City still have a tough trip to Liverpool to negotiate, but a draw could well be enough there. After that game, City then play four of their final six games at the Etihad, where we know they are very, very strong. Maximum points will be expected out of those games, and the pressure will be firmly applied to their title rivals.

The one part of the City team which looks relatively vulnerable is the center of defense. Luckily for City, their captain Vincent Kompany seems to produce performances which papers over the cracks that are so obviously there. Kompany is a world class defender, one of the very best, and even Martin Demichelis, who struggled so badly this season, has begun to settle and play better next to the brilliant Belgian.

City have had no issues at all scoring goals this season. It's no surprise really when their brilliant strikeforce is backed up by Yaya Toure and his 17 goals from midfield. Even when the strikers have suffered a little lately, Toure has been there, once again, to score the crucial goals. In addition to that, he is the best midfielder in the league, just in general play alone; what a weapon to possess in a tight title run-in.

City look a far better team when David Silva is on form and pulling the strings from the middle. Silva had a slight dip a few months ago and issues with injury too, but he's back now and in red hot form just when City need him. Silva can create chances out of nothing for his teammates, and his performances are going to be crucial for City and their hopes. Not many teams can live with Silva when he's on form.

Sergio Aguero has had a bad season with injuries. Even without the Argentine, City have made a bold bid for the Premier League. Now, though, he's back fit and could be the difference between City winning the Premier League and them missing out. On his day he is unstoppable, and if he gets back to that form in the remaining games it will not only be Aguero teams will struggle to stop -- it will be City and their charge to the Premier League crown.
