This weekend was full of matches you did not want to miss. Many clubs took on their league rivals, and the best and worst came out of players. I think Week 5 is when clubs have found their footing and every match is one to take seriously. There was so much going on that fans were bound to miss something. Take a look at the top 5 events around the league from this weekend.

5. LA Galaxy Defeat Chivas USA for First Win of the Season

LA Galaxy Chivas USA SuperClasico MLS Week 5 Review

Chivas USA has started its season off with a bang, and I thought that the SuperClasico was finally going to be a true rivalry; I was wrong. This LA Derby became LA Galaxy's first win of the season, and it was quite the win with a 3-0 margin. Not only that, but MLS newbies Baggio Husidic and Stefan Ishizaki made their MLS debut goals. It was a great match -- for Galaxy fans at least.

4. Jose Mari Scores Amazing Goal for Colorado Rapids

Jose Mari MLS Week 5 Review

Jose Mari stole the show during the Colorado Rapids and Vancouver Whitecaps' match this weekend. He made two goals for the Rapids enabling them to come from behind to beat the Whitecaps. His first goal was a beautiful bending strike that was nominated for Goal of the Week, and I think it may even be Goal-the-Year material. Rapids fans have plenty to look forward to with Mari.

3. Toronto FC Ends Columbus Crew's Streak

Toronto FC MLS Week 5 Review

Columbus Crew was handed its first loss of the season, and who better to do it than Toronto FC. Toronto really has become a brand new club this season. Although it first made headlines with Jermain Defoe, he soon found himself on the injury list. Luckily, US National Team star Michael Bradley was there to pick up the slack and help Toronto get the win by getting the first goal of the match.

Social media is a great place to see the player beyond the field; sometimes its good things, and sometimes it's bad. I think this rivalry between Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake after being MLS Cup finalists last season had created something more. Dwyer's words weren't so harsh in my opinion, but Nick Rimando was not going to let them go. I don't know how it reflects upon their respective clubs, but I enjoyed reading their little spat.

1. Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounds Draw in High Scoring Match

Portland Timbers Seattle Sounders MLS Week 5 Review

This was definitely the match of the week and probably of the month. I thought the Seattle Sounders would take the Portland Timbers with no contest, but I've never been happier to be wrong. It was quite the match to watch, and it ended in a 4-4 draw. To top it off, Clint Dempsey scored a hat trick for the Sounders. I hope there are more matches like this down the line.
