After being eliminated from three Cups over the past two weeks and sitting in third place in La Liga, Barcelona find themselves with serious problems; however, their current problem is nothing compared to issues that lie ahead. The transfer ban is a large issue that when coupled with aging players, a poor defense, an inexperienced manager, a fading style of play and Neymar's attitude, will bring down the Spanish giant.

Soccer is a cyclical game and Barcelona's style of play is currently the most successful. But it is only a matter of time before a team uses a different system that is far superior to Tiki Taka. Do not forget, not only is Barcelona's Senior squad using Tiki Taka but the whole club is taught this technique. Meaning they will have to completely revamp the club from top to bottom -- something that will not be an overnight transformation.

Gerardo Martino has an impressive track record but just not on the big stage. These next couple of years will be trying for the young manager -- expect to see his inexperience rear its ugly head at a time when pose is needed the most. Things will not be as smooth as winning the Treble each season so expect Martino to fail.

With Carlos Puyol out the door, Barcelona desperately needs to solidify their aging defense. It can be assumed defenders would have been this off season's number one priority, but those plans failed. Barca has a number of defenders on their roster but a majority are attack minded. As a result, look for Barca to concede goals at a more than normal clip going forward.

When Pep Guardiola took charge of Barcelona he sold off players like Ronaldinho and Deco to make room for the new generation, a generation that built its team around Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. While it is hard to fault Gaurdiola, who won numerous titles, these players are starting to age.
Carlos Puyol – 36
Xavi – 34
Victor Valdes - 32
Iniesta – 30
Javier Mascherano – 29

Neymar is a Brazilian and the best of his generation. Therefore, it is only a matter of time before Neymar starts to become frustrated playing second fiddle to an Argentinean. Expect this to happen soon. And if Brazil makes a run in the World Cup with him headlining the team, then expect it to occur next season.
