Colombia have never been beyond the second round in their four previous appearances at World Cups and will be playing to at least outdo that record as they strive for a successful tournament in Brazil. Colombia possess more talent than some may realize and sit as favorites to win Group C. Everybody knows star striker Radamel Falcao, who is actually a doubt through injury, but there is more to Colombia than just the AS Monaco front man.

Fredy Guarin is an energetic box-to-box midfielder who plays for Inter Milan in Italy. Guarin was linked with a transfer to some big clubs during this year's January transfer window, but a move never quite materialized. He then signed a new contract at Inter, but his performances have tended to be below par since then. Colombia will need Guarin at his best for the World Cup to complement the attacking talent that they have in the team.

Juan Cuadrado is the epitome of a flying winger. Cuadrado plays for Fiorentina in Serie A, and his lightning pace and fleet-footed dribbling is gaining more and more attention by the week. The World Cup is a huge platform, so don't be surprised if Cuadrado uses it to establish himself on the world scene for all to see.

Thanks to his goalscoring exploits at FC Porto, Jackson Martinez is often linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Martinez is a tall striker with good movement and a deadly eye for goal, but his form for Porto has not quite translated to the Colombia national team as yet. That doesn't take away from his quality, though, and the World Cup may be the stage where everything could finally come together for Martinez's international career.

There is a very strong argument to say that James Rodriguez is the most important player in the Colombia team. Colombia have a number of strikers to choose from, some of undoubted quality, but without service, those strikers cannot be the match winners everybody knows they can be. Rodriguez is the man who provides the crux of the service and will be one of the better playmakers on show at the World Cup.

Radamel Falcao is one of the finest strikers in the world. Unfortunately for Falcao, the fans and his teammates, the AS Monaco striker suffered a knee injury in January. After undergoing surgery, he has been a doubt for the World Cup ever since. He still remains a doubt but will likely be in the squad anyway as he closes in on being healthy, if not fully fit. Falcao is a lethal goalscorer, and even half fit he can still be a match winner.
