Real Madrid: Team Has to Find Ways to Win Final Two League Matches
Real Madrid are four points behind Atletico Madrid and only one behind Barcelona as they sit in third with two league games still yet to be played. Their opponents are Celta Vigo and RCD Espanyol, two clubs that seem easy on paper but are a much different story on the field.
Let’s start with Celta Vigo, a club that has a striker by the name of Nolito who has been in sensational form as of late. With 14 goals and two assists in the first 30 games, the 27-year-old will look to heighten his performance to a new level as his club looks to spoil the party for the capital side when they visit this Sunday. He will look to gain the attention of the bigger clubs for a bigger pay check next year as he could be transferred elsewhere.
This will be a game that will be a bit difficult as they are playing on the road. Frankly, with their form, winning on their ground will be tough, but Real Madrid will show desperation in their game which should equal more goals scored than allowed.
Next weekend, on the final day, Real Madrid will be hosting RCD Espanyol, a team that is vastly talented but knows that they will have to sit back a lot more than they attack against a capital side that pushes forward all game long at home. They will rely on their defense to hold firm and the midfield to push up along with the three front men to find the back of the net as many times as possible.
One man that is scaring them a bit is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo who had to step off the field with less than 10 minutes in midweek action to Real Valladolid. He complained about a hamstring problem. Hopefully, these nagging injuries will be healed in time for the match this weekend as his scoring will be needed.
Realistically, Real needs both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona to lose and draw in their last two games while winning their own in order to have nay chance at winning the league title. If Atletico wins this weekend, Real can finish in second at best. If Barcelona wins both, Real finish in third with a very low chance of second, depending on how Atletico eventually performs in their fixtures.
