Honduras World Cup: Preview, Predictions and TV Schedule
Honduras enters the 2014 World Cup with a FIFA ranking of 33 and hopes of gaining a first ever win in this tournament. They have played in two previous World Cups (1982, 2010) and have two draws and two loses.
The expectations for this team are surely not very high for Manager Luis Fernando Suarez, as just finding a way to pick up a first World Cup win would seem like quite the accomplishment. That being said the team, lead by Wilson Palacios of Stoke City (Premier League), will for sure be looking to shock the teams in their group with good defensive play.
Group E is a very interesting one as France is a heavy favorite to finish first. Second place is very much up in the air as nobody truly knows what to expect from Ecuador and Switzerland. Even though the second spot in unknown, realistically Honduras is not a common pick to advance on as they will likely be overmatched from their opponents.
So, my predictions are, Honduras is loaded with veterans on their team and the experience could loom large in them picking up their first victory. Realistically expecting much more than that would not be wise, as I see them finishing with 3 points and not advancing past the group stage. However, if you get that first win, especially if it is early in the group round, you never know what can happen.
TV Schedule (Group E):
6/15/2014: vs. France 3:00 p.m. EDT (ABC)
6/20/2014: vs. Ecuador 6:00 p.m. EDT (ESPN)
6/26/2014: vs. Switzerland 4:00 p.m. EDT (ESPN)
