Without breaking a sweat, Germany managed to easily get by the USMNT. They solidified their position as first place in the group of death, as well as their status as World Cup favorites. Find out how each Germany player did against the USA.

Manuel Neuer was hardly given anything to throw himself at. Despite the USA's inability to attack, he remained focused throughout the entire game. He ran off his line a number of times to anticipate a couple of runs and didn't have any problems with the ball at his feet. 7 out of 10 for the best goalkeeper in the world.

It was a good game for Jerome Boateng, who took advantage of the weak American attack to help out with offensive runs as much as possible. He was always an option on the right and managed to put in a number of dangerous crosses that were never taken advantage of. 8 out of 10 for Boateng.

CB - Per Mertesacker

Much like the entire German defense, Per Mertesacker was asked to pretty much watch the game for 90 minutes. Clint Dempsey wasn't much of a factor, and Mertesacker covered any American attacks with his experience. He was caught out of position in Bedoya's last-minute chance, though. 7 out of 10 for Mertesacker.

Mats Hummels continues his fine form during this World Cup, never letting Clint Dempsey handle a ball without covering him immediately. He covered any runs from Davis or Zusi well and even went on a couple of forward runs. 8 out of 10 for Hummels.

Germany's weakness is in their left-back. While Benedikt Howedes is a decent defender, he provides little to nothing on offense. His crosses are never good and he loses the ball too easily. There's almost no point in covering Howedes on his runs. 5 out of 10 for Howedes.

CM - Phillipp Lahm

The German media and fans have been calling for Lahm to be moved to his usual right-back position. He's clearly playing out of position and doesn't feel all too comfortable. He lost a couple of balls in dangerous areas against the U.S. and was at times overwhelmed by Jermaine Jones' pressing. He did, however, have a key save at the last minute on Alejandro Bedoya's shot. 6.5 out of 10 for Lahm.

CM - Bastian Schweinsteiger

Bastian Schweinsteiger was one of Germany's best players on the field against the USMNT. He moved all across the field to both create chances for Germany and interrupt any American counterattacks. He anchored the German midfield and was an excellent link-up between the multiple Germany lines. 8.5 out of 10 for Schweinsteiger.

RM - Mesut Ozil

It was yet another disappointing match for Ozil, who has yet to reclaim his form from his Real Madrid days. The talent is there, but he seems lost on the field. He managed to drive in some good through balls for his teammates against the U.S., but his contributions were too few and far between. 6 out of 10 for Ozil.

One hardly notices Toni Kroos, but his contributions to the team are invaluable. He's a team player who always makes himself available for a pass and makes the right choices with the ball at his feet. He was constantly moving across the field to circulate the ball against the U.S. and, alongside Schweinsteiger, bossed the midfield. 8 out of 10 for Kroos.

LM - Lukas Podolski

Lukas Podolski started out well, but as the time went on, his presence was lost. He had clear opportunities in the first 10 minutes of the match but didn't take advantage of them. After that, he could never get past Fabian Johnson. He was rightly subbed out during halftime. 5 out of 10 for Podolski.

Thomas Muller showed off his versatility and his goal-scoring ability against the U.S. He started off as a striker and was a constant headache for Gonzalez and Besler. At halftime, he moved to the left-wing and managed the ball from there. He scored on a fantastic curling shot and added to his impressive goal count for Germany at World Cups. 9 out of 10 for Muller.

He came in during halftime to try and get his 16th goal in World Cup history. And while he wasn't able to score, he hustled all throughout the field, causing trouble for the American defenders. 6 out of 10 for Klose.

Mario Gotze came in with the game practically finished. Each team had taken the foot off the pedal and were simply passing it around. Regardless, Gotze had a chance to score but was too selfish with his dribbling. 6 out of 10 for Gotze.
