The round of 16 in the 2014 World Cup is up next and it will bring many intriguing match ups. There are three predictable games, but the other five are sure to be highly contested. An honorable mention goes to Argentina vs. Switzerland as Argentina have been rescued by Messi and Switzerland after a great performance. Here are the most interesting fixtures in the knockouts.

Some would say this is a predictable match up with the Netherlands fire power. However, this is shaping up to be a game that frustrates Arjen Robben and Robin Van Persie. Then there is Guillermo Ochoa, the best keeper thus far in the World Cup. The bonus here is the pleasure of watching the animated Miguel Herrera.

4. Costa Rica vs. Greece

No one expected Costa Rica to be here. The partnership between Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell, a top three player in CONCACAF, has been fun to watch. They also play a back three as good as a back four. This means an ultra attacking side taking on a team that wins through defense. Greece have trouble scoring, but an early Ticos goal could open this game up.

3. Colombia vs. Uruguay

Colombia has been impressive. James Rodriguez is showing as one of the best playmakers left in the competition. They have found a scoring touch without Falcoa and have the best goal celebrations in the competition. Uruguay are without Luis Suarez and the responsibility falls to Edison Cavani. Will there be a resurgence for Diego Forlan?

2. USMNT vs. Belgium

The USMNT made it to a place many did not expect them to land. They will still embrace the underdog role and embrace a new philosophy for another European team. Belgium have yet to find their game and have had to rescue results late. The USMNT weathered the German storm well, but what happens if Belgium find their attack?

1. Brazil vs. Chile

The best match is the first one of the Round of 16. Two South America teams face off in a high stakes game. This may be the golden generation of Chile with Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal. They are also an attacking team that will play their style. For Brazil, Neymar has taken the pressure and excelled. Chile fans have been amazing, so the atmosphere will be excellent.
