The U.S. has a plethora of talent that enabled them to make it all the way to the Round of 16 in the World Cup. Tim Howard is just one of them who truly made his case as one of, if not the best. Who else made the list?

Matt Besler started ever single game as Jurgen Klinsmann's most trusted defensive piece. He was truly remarkable throughout the tournament, stopping one dangerous play after another. He sometimes had to cover gaps left by others to keep things safe for his boys. He deserves to be named one of the best.

Dempsey not only captained the side, but he scored two crucial goals against Ghana and Portugal in the group stage. He dropped back several times to help the midfield as the injury to Jozy Altidore forced him to be positioned up top alone. Even so, he did a decent job at leading his team's attack.

Beasley was the most remarkable left back that Klinsmann could have asked for. He was converted from a left winger-midfielder into a more defensive role because the team required him to do so. He managed to lock down the wings and even push up to create many attacks. He sometimes had to drop into the center of the box to clear any danger. He was the best overall defender.

Jermaine Jones is simply the tank of the midfield. His crunching tackles, 50-50 winning ability and sensational goal against Portugal all make him a special talent. No matter how strong the opponent, Jones always puts in a 100 percent effort to push the team through. His daring spirit and attitude was contagious to his teammates as they adapted that fight into their own game. Thanks to him, they all competed with heart and soul.

Tim Howard made 16 saves against Belgium in the USA's 2-1 loss. Besides that, he kept the scoring low against Ghana, Portugal and Germany as well. Thanks to his leadership, athleticism and never-give-up attitude, the team looked better than they actually were defensively. He was by far their main asset at the World Cup and is definitely their best player.
