Yesterday, Luis Suarez and FC Barcelona are close to reaching a deal that is worth £70 million or $120 million. After the meltdown of Suarez biting Giorgio Chiellini in the 2014 World Cup, it was believed that Liverpool FC would part ways with the Uruguayan forward despite his recent success at the club. Suarez not only bit Chiellini, but also Otman Bakkal and Branislav Ivanovic. Along with an anger problem that is solved through biting, Suarez has had trouble with racist remarks toward Patrice Evra.

Liverpool FC probably wants to part ways with Suarez because of the negative publicity that is associated with the forward. Liverpool FC is coming off a pretty successful English Premier League campaign despite coming in second place to Manchester City. Suarez’s 31-goal performance last year brought him plenty of accolades in the Premier League, but will that success translate over to the Spanish Primera Division? Chances are very likely Suarez can compete at any level and playing alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar will only enhance his performance.

Despite Suarez’s troubling past, FC Barcelona will look to acquire the forward to work beside Messi and Neymar up at the front. However, FC Barcelona will be without Suarez’s services for four months due to a ban that was brought upon after the biting of Chiellini. FC Barcelona is a team that can afford waiting for the talented yet controversial star.

This transfer fee will make Suarez the richest soccer player in history. With the four-month ban to Suarez, can FC Barcelona be able to compete while waiting on Suarez? The answer to that question is probably a yes. The transfer will probably happen soon as negotiations heat up between the two parties. Suarez will become the next player to play for the red and blue in Spain.
