The offseason has been a bit less active in the wake of the 2014 World Cup, but I suspect with the tournament's end, more signings and offloading will be done in the coming weeks as we head towards the start of the 2014-15 season. As of right now, these are five of the Barclay's Premier League teams that have been winning the offseason.

West Brom acquired Joleon Lescott, who is aging, but his experience should add some steel to their back line. They've also added Sebastien Pocognoli (Hannover) and Craig Gardner (Sunderland) to their squad as well. Gardner had a bit of a down year at Sunderland, but should bounce back with a good campaign this season. Pocognoli should be an upgrade at their left back position.

Manchester United will see Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal take over the reins this year and he seems to have a set plan on what type of players he wants at Old Trafford. He has already signed young talents like Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera and seems focused on introducing a similar style to the one that saw his Dutch team reach the World Cup quarterfinals. Van Gaal will have a big budget and is rumored to be in play for several big name players.

Arsenal has only added Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, but a player of his quality is sure to make an immediate impact for manager Arsene Wenger. Sanchez has incredibly quick feet, passes very well and has the ability to score with both feet. Wenger is also looking to add Sami Khedira from Real Madrid to solidify his midfield, but he will also need to replace Bacary Sagna who joined Manchester City on a free transfer.

Manchester City is here mainly because of the free addition of Sagna who will shore up one of the weaker spots in their lineup. They did lose Joleon Lescott, but with young prospects like Matija Nastasic needing more time on the pitch, losing Lescott does not hurt too much. Manager Manuel Pellegrini should look to add another center back for insurance and with seemingly unlimited cash reserves, they could be in play for just about any player.

What about the loss of Luis Suarez? Yes, it's a big loss, but his suspension would've hurt the club and this allows them to reallocate the resources received from Barcelona into adding more depth. They've signed Rickie Lambert who has become more of a household name and also added promising young winger Adam Lallana from Southampton. Lambert provides Liverpool with a target striker and Lallana's creativity should fit right in with their system.
