I know, big surprise, right? After a stellar performance in this year’s World Cup and a great showing in the MLS match of the week between Portland and Seattle, I can see why it would be advantageous to have DeAndre Yedlin in the lineup.
It only took me 45 minutes of the Portland vs. Seattle game to realize Yedlin’s intangibles. He is uncommonly fast, has great reaction time, is strong and recovers as quickly as some of the greatest players in the World. The 21-year-old has been rumored to be on the move to a number of clubs in Europe, and I have to say that those European teams will not be sorry one bit.
Yedlin has been rumored to be in talks with both AS Roma of the Italian Serie A, Olympique Lyonnais of the French Ligue 1, as well as clubs in the English Premier League. He would be an automatic upgrade to the right-back position. His ability to go chest-to-chest with some of the greatest players in the world at the World Cup has given him experience as well as helpful tips to up his game.
As time goes on and the USMNT begins competing once again in international play, Yedlin will provide an immediate impact to the team just as he did in this year’s World Cup tournament. He has unbelievable potential and will definitely make a move to Europe to develop his game by competing with higher-class teams there.
