The World Cup has come to an end and it gave us plenty of goals. With time to digest the tournament and some superb goals in the knockouts, the top five goals have shifted. There is even one new addition from the group stage. Messi is an honorable mention, but will not get the popular vote as with the Golden Ball. Enjoy the goals as long as FIFA doesn't remove the videos.
Shaqiri would go onto a hat trick in this match, but this was easily his best effort. Not only was the shot a rocket, but also he showed his strength to keep the defender at bay. We deemed this goal just ahead of Messi's effort against Iran.
This may go down as the most memorable goal from this World Cup, but only time will tell. For now it sits in the top five for Götze's touch and control. It is great technique and skill.
This is a great angle of the goal that inspired one of the best memes of the World Cup. The delivery is equal the goal. Still, Van Persie had this calculated and put the perfect finish on the header.
The Golden Boot winner supplied this beauty. The placement of the shot was amazing and he was being closed down quickly by a defender. This fan video shows his movement to find the pocket of space to get the shot off.
The one touch pass was put on a tee, but to finish like this is still difficult. The strength on his left foot is what gives this the edge. This took everyone by surprise, as Cahill had a strong showing in what should be his last World Cup.
