Mike Magee’s Day Off: MLS Does Ferris Bueller Spoof

Former MLS MVP Mike Magee is the star of this amazing “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” spoof put out by ESPNFC, KICKTV and MLS. Because it stars Magee, it is titled “Mike Magee’s Day Off,” but don’t be fooled. Magee is not the only legendary player to appear on the video. Many more make excellent cameos in this silly, but entertaining video.

Many US National Team stars took part in the making of the video, including LA Galaxy‘s star defender Omar Gonzalez. Gonzalez perfectly played the role of Cameron Frye, Bueller’s best bud, which may have been easy after being Magee’s teammate for years. He really nailed the role, even though he may have felt a little silly doing it. Maybe Gonzalez will look into acting after retiring from professional soccer?

The women’s national team was also included in this fun video, with Sydney Leroux playing Sloane Peterson (Bueller’s girlfriend) and Hope Solo playing the part of Bueller’s sister. Thierry Henry, Michael Bradley, Dwayne de Rosario, Bruce Arena and several Chicago Fire players also made an appearance. I don’t know how they got so many top players to agree to this ridiculous video, but I am glad everyone was up for it.

I don’t know why they decided to make this video, but I know many are glad it happened. Magee already seems to have a legendary status, and a silly video like this pokes fun at the idea that he could be as self-centered as Bueller. It is possible that it was his only shot in hopes of becoming viral, but even if it doesn’t succeed in that aspect, it was still a rather successful video. It reached many fans from all around the world, and based on Twitter, those who took part in the making of the video are proud to share the link no matter how silly they looked in the video.
