With the sale of Luis Suarez to FC Barcelona, Liverpool FC have a substantial gap to fill on their roster. The Uruguayan striker led the Reds to a second place finish last year, contributing 31 goals in 33 appearances. Suarez’s goal to game ratio is comparable to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Liverpool received a fee of $128 million for their man and now have the unenviable task of replacing him.

The Columbian Phenom has been heavily linked to Real Madrid this summer, but Liverpool could hijack Rodriguez by meeting AS Monaco FC’s asking price of $120 million. Rodriguez proved he was an exciting player during the World Cup and he could be the player to replicate Suarez’s contribution.

The Real Sociedad man is by no means a replacement for Suarez by himself, but the Frenchman would be a great complement to Sturridge ,and Liverpool might be able to combine him with another player on this list. With a buyout clause of $40 million, Griezmann would be a great addition to Liverpool.

Although El Shaarawy missed most of the 2013-14 season and missed the 2014 World Cup, the AC Milan forward is a potential world beater. The Italian striker could be a relative bargain compared to the other options on this list. El Shaarawy is a versatile forward that can play on the wings, but prefers to play as a center forward. During the first half of the 2012-13 season, he was absolutely unstoppable.

2. Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema formed a third of the much feared BBC at Real Madrid that terrorized Spain and Europe last year. The Madrid attacker has proven himself to be versatile forward with the ability to play all three positions up front. Although Benzema is not as prolific as Suarez has been, he is a great forward with the ability to distribute up-front. The Frenchman is priced at around $60 million so Liverpool can combine him with another purchase.

Marco Reus is not a like for like replacement for Suarez. The Dortmund BVB playmaker will be more adept at supporting Daniel Sturridge. The German scored 23 goals and had 18 assist in all competition last year for Dortmund. Although Reus plays on the wing or behind the center forward, his contribution to Liverpool could be close to what Suarez has done. Dortmund will be asking for something in the range of $75 million.
