With the obvious transfer rumors that Arturo Vidal would make a move to Old Trafford, the Chilean midfielder from Juventus passed a series of medical physicals which could see Vidal make a move to Manchester United despite Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri‘s staunch position that Vidal was not for sale.
This is a huge step in the negotiations for Vidal. After what appeared to be a dead end, Louis Van Gaal raised the transfer fee for Vidal in an attempt to make Juventus an offer they could not refuse. The new transfer fee is now around £47 million for the midfielder which is an upgrade from the beginning price of £20 million.
Money appears to be the motive for Manchester United, and by doubling the transfer fee, Juventus will appear to break at one point or another. Vidal was a revelation during the 2014 World Cup and has impressed significantly at Juventus in the past years, bringing the club plenty of silverware.
Van Gaal and Manchester United have but one weakness on the team and that is in the midfield. Tom Cleverley has shown inconsistency over the past year, and Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick are approaching old age which would mean that Vidal would a perfect fit for Van Gaal’s system. Vidal has the potential to improve Manchester United significantly with the pairing of Juan Mata and the Chilean, the midfield would be stacked.
After a so far successful transfer window, Van Gaal will look to continue adding players; and outside of Vidal, another target, Mats Hummels, is moving closer to a move to Manchester United. The German defender has displayed both offensive and defensive tendencies at the center back position which could come in handy for Van Gaal establishing a potent offensive attack.
