The 2014-2015 English Premier League season is less than two weeks from beginning, and fans around the world are brimming with hopes of what their respective team will do this year. Unfortunately, three teams will end up being relegated, meaning that somebody has to bring in a dose of pessimism before the season begins. Keeping this in mind, I have identified the five teams most likely to be relegated from the EPL in 2014-2015.

Southampton stunned the world by finishing eighth in the English Premier League in 2013-2014, but it would be surprising if they didn't get relegated in 2014-2015. This is because manager Mauricio Pochettino left, and star players Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert have all followed suit. With Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin set to leave as well, the upcoming season will be miserable in Southampton.

It is always tough being a recently promoted team in the English Premier League, and Burnley will soon find this out. The club that finished second in the Championship in 2013-2014 has made no offseason signings of any consequence, a direct result of a constrained pocketbook. With an opening slate of games against Chelsea, Swansea City and Manchester United, Burnley may start off in poor form, and they may not recover.

3. Hull City

Hull City used the signings of Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore and Shane Long to avoid relegation in 2013-2014, but it will be tough to do so again. In addition to being a club that is destined for the bottom half of the table, Hull City has the added slog of playing in the Europa League. For a club of their stature, this isn't a bad thing, but it will certainly stretch the limits of the squad, making relegation a distinct possibility.

2. Leicester City

Leicester City absolutely dominated the Championship last campaign, but they will find the English Premier League to be a much tougher draw. The likes of Matty James, Danny Drinkwater and Andy King will combine to form a team spine high on talent, but incredibly low on EPL experience. This lack of experience could result in a real readjustment for Leicester and potentially relegation.

West Bromwich Albion narrowly avoided relegation in 2013-2014, and they will once again be in the fight of their lives this campaign. The club has benefited from the signings of Joleon Lescott, Sebastien Pocognoli and club record signing Brown Ideye, but it is tough to see any being a true difference maker. In all likelihood, West Brom has what it takes to avoid relegation, but by a very narrow margin yet again.
