Transfer season has officially reached the halfway point, and teams have splashed heavily on world-class talent. Last summer we saw Real Madrid CF smash their own world record fee to sign Gareth Bale. With the signings of James Rodriguez and Luis Suarez already finished, there has been some movement in the most expensive transfer list already. Here is a list of the five most expensive players.
The new Orlando City man moved from AC Milan to Real Madrid CF for a fee of $ 94 million in June 2009. The former Brazilian international is No. 5 on this list for now.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner comes in at No. 4. The Colombian international moved from AS Monaco FC to Real Madrid this summer for a fee of $ 119 million.
The former Liverpool FC striker made his move to FC Barcelona this summer even after his four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chellini. The total sum of the transfer is thought to be around $ 126 million, placing him at No. 3.
CR7 became the world’s most expensive player in 2009 when he made the transfer from Manchester United FC to Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo would go on to break all sorts of records for Real Madrid after his $ 134 million move.
The Welsh Wizard’s transfer saga took the entirety of the summer last year. Bale’s transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid cost the Spanish club about $ 143 million, a fee that overtook Cristiano Ronaldo as the most expensive transfer in world football.
