Liverpool FC were able to make a sensational run for the English Premier League title last season, which barely slipped out of their grip. With the addition of the UEFA Champions League to their schedule, the Merseyside club will need to add to their roster if they are to challenge for all competitions. The Reds also have the unenviable task of replacing Luis Suarez. Here is the list of players who Liverpool should target.

Liverpool are in need of a good right-back to replace the inconsistent Glen Johnson. Dani Alves would be a good option for the Merseyside club, as he gives them experience and reliability. However, the Brazilian international has been known to shirk his defensive duties at times to go forward.

4. Asier Illarramendi

It has only been a year since Illarramendi’s arrival to Real Madrid CF, but the influx of midfielder at the Spanish capital this summer could see the former Real Sociedad man out. Illarramendi has been considered the heir to Xabi Alonso who is highly regarded at Liverpool and Illarramendi’s development could help the Merseyside club.

3. Xherdan Shaqiri

The Bayern Munich man put on a good show for Switzerland at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, often the sole source of creativity for the Swiss. Shaqiri will be looking to break into the Bayern starting eleven this year. The Swiss international is a quick creative winger who would increase the potency of Liverpool’s frontline.

2. Edinson Cavani

It is no secret that Liverpool are in a need of another striker to replace Suarez and his Uruguay international teammate could be a good replacement. Cavani is reportedly unsettled at Paris Saint Germaine and would welcome a move. The PSG man would cost a pretty penny, but he could create a lethal partnership with Daniel Sturridge.

Reus scored 23 goals and had 18 assist in all competition for BVB Dortmund last year. Although Reus plays on the wing or behind the center forward, his contribution to Liverpool can be close to what Suarez has done. The Dortmund attacker is an absolute world beater and Dortmund will be asking for something in the range of $75 million
