Last season Arsenal FC had everyone believing that this was their year to finally take home the Premier League trophy after such a long period without winning anything. At the beginning of the season, Aaron Ramsey was in stunning form as he controlled the midfield like a veteran pro. His link up play with Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla was astonishing at times, breaking down any defense making them look like school boys in comparison. Oliver Giroud played well in the first half of last season, holding up the ball and passing it to his teammates around him.
Arsenal have now gone forward and built on a team that already looks very assuring. After the acquisition of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid in the summer of last year, many of the fans were not convinced that they were still ready to challenge for the title. For the upcoming season, Arsene Wenger made his intentions clear by signing the Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona after an impressive World Cup. Wenger is known as the manager who loves bargain deals and would push his deals to the limit to get the best bang for the buck, but there were no corners to be cut with Sanchez; the guy is just class.
Arsenal have a defense which boast the likes of Thomas Vermaelen, Mathieu Debuchy, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscienlny just to name a few. This defense is strong enough to keep a good amount of clean sheets throughout the season. On the other hand, the attack is not that strong. Giroud is usually the go-to guy, but sometimes his performances are not up to par with what you would want from a team challenging for the title. Even with their weaknesses and flaws, the brilliance of Wenger could prove crucial as he is one of the most experienced managers between all the teams that are title contenders.
