Mario Balotelli has been subject to many rumors in the last couple of days, stating that he could be on his way back to the Premier League, this time with Liverpool.
It is no secret that Liverpool are in the market for a new striker, with Brendan Rodgers going on record confirming they need to replace the brilliant Luis Suarez. With only Rickie Lambert brought into the striking department, the Reds certainly need another to replace the Uruguayan’s goals.
It may be a case of one controversial player for another, with Balotelli arguably in the news as much as Suarez in recent times. The Italian has enjoyed a very successful time at AC Milan in Serie A, since his move from Manchester City. He knows the Premier League well and scored many goals for City in his time there. The 24-year-old may not be at the goal-scoring level as Suarez, but he would go a very long way to helping Liverpool replace their former star man.
The move may be a shock to many, but Liverpool could do with another big character and a good player in their squad — Balotelli is certainly both. Liverpool need a player with his quality to link up with Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling in attack, just like Suarez did to great effect last year. With the midfield creativity from Steven Gerrard, Philippe Coutinho and Jordon Henderson among others, a player like “Super Mario” would excel in Liverpool’s team.
If the transfer does go through, whether it will be a loan or a permanent deal, it will be very interesting to say the least of how the move would work out for Liverpool and Balotelli.
