Before the 2014 World Cup, Memphis Depay may have only been a name that people mentioned in passing. After a successful spell with the Netherlands, though, European clubs have been scouting and enquiring the 20-year-old. Depay signed a four-year deal with PSV Eindhoven and has made sure that for the next four years, Depay’s home is in the Dutch Eredivisie.

I personally love Depay, and it’s for rational reasons. Depay is instant offense and provides speed and precision when the ball is at his feet. Depay is the kind of player that can make a team successful. Everyone was witness to his talents in Brazil and over the last couple of weeks, teams in England such as Tottenham and Manchester United have been looking into Depay to acquire his services. After Depay pledged his allegiance to the Dutch club, teams like Manchester United and Tottenham will now have to look elsewhere and find other hidden gems to help upgrade their squads.

Depay can only get better and at 20 years old, the Dutch youngster has plenty of potential and upside. As of now, Depay is the top goal scorer in the Eredivisie with four goals in two games, and he will look to keep the goal tally at an all-time high. The stay at PSV will allow Depay to develop his game and become more rounded, which will be of benefit to many clubs whenever Depay decides to spread his horizons and head to a club of a top-tier league such as the English Premier League or La Liga.
