With the confirmed exit of Angel Di Maria, Real Madrid has forced out another valuable member of its team. All Madridistas have painfully awaited for the La Decima for 12 years and there was no way that Real Madrid could have won without Di Maria’s tireless dribble in extra time. Although, El Flacco had his shot saved by Thibaut Courtois, the Gareth Bale goal was created by the Argentine international. The former Real Madrid midfielder was at times streaky, but his contributions will be missed.

Although Samuel Eto’o never played for Real Madrid, the Spanish capital side owned 50 percent of the Cameroonian striker. Perez would sell their share of the rights to Barcelona where Eto’o flourished and punished the Galacticos many times.

The Dutchman arrived at the Bernabeu in the summer of 2007. Robben was one of the best players for Real Madrid, but the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka pushed the former Chelsea winger to Bayern Munich in 2009. The transfer of Robben would go on to haunt Real Madrid, as Bayern Munich eliminated the Spanish side through the Dutchman's contribution in the 2012 UEFA Champions League semi-final.

The exit of Makalele is consider by many who played with him the worst piece of business in the Galacticos era. The Chelsea legend was considered the best player on the squad by Zinedine Zidane, Steve McManaman and Fernando Hierro, but President Florentino Perez considered him surplus. The loss of Makalele is considered the beginning of the decline of Real Madrid and the beginning of a new era for Chelsea.

The World Cup winning coach was sacked by Florentino Perez, because of a fundamental disagreement about Claudio Makalele’s value to the club. Del Bosque won two La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies during his tenure from 1999-2003. The Spanish manager was sacked after a successful season where he captured the 29th Spanish league title. Real Madrid went on to have a string of unsuccessful managers after Del Bosque.
