Liverpool Win Over Tottenham Shows League is Up For Grabs
Liverpool FC just handed Tottenham Hotspurs a sound beating in the Premier League bouncing back from their defeat at Manchester City. Liverpool knows that if they are to challenge for the title, they have to beat teams such as Tottenham and do it convincingly. After losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona, many of the critics were ready to dismiss Liverpool this season but it looks like their new addition Mario Balotelli can change their minds. Even though the Italy international did not score, his link up play with Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge was enough to leave the Liverpool fans drooling for more.
The argument isn’t about whether Liverpool is capable of winning the Premier League, it’s about whether or not they will. Liverpool’s manager Brendan Rogers has set up a team which is not only dangerous on the counter but sound when it is time to defend. Tottenham is not a team which can be easily overrun and were undefeated coming into this game — it goes to show that in the Premier League nothing can be taken for granted.
Sterling, Sturridge, Balotelli and Steven Gerrard are some of the Liverpool players who will be very important to the team’s chances of gaining the title. If they can keep fit throughout the season and Brendan Rogers makes rotations as necessary, Liverpool will be genuine contenders. Tottenham’s manager Mauricio Pochettino has nothing to worry about as it is still very early in the season, but if things continue how they are, Tottenham could kiss their title dreams goodbye.
