Over the last eight weeks of play in MLS there has been a lot of inconsistency. Teams are battling injuries, international duty and disciplinary sanctions. Depending on how you are judging, teams like Toronto FC and Chicago Fire could have made this list. There are two clear-cut teams that qualify as the worst. The rest of those in the bottom half of the standings are starting to blend together.

Vancouver have been mediocre at best all season. They have had some highlight reel goals with a couple players emerging as stars. Two wins over their last 11 is not getting it done. However, they have played to the second-most draws in the league with 12 which is keeping them in the playoff discussion.

The Earthquakes have played the fewest amount of games in MLS, but they have sat outside of the top five in the Western Conference all season long. They have been alternating draws and losses the last five weeks. Tommy Thompson makes them worth the watch. They will have to use the games in hand to make a run in the last part of the season.

Montreal have two wins in their last three games. That comes after seven losses in a row. Montreal are all but assured a last place finish in the Eastern Conference as they sit eight points back of the Houston Dynamo. The only saving grace is that five of the seven losses during the streak were by one goal.

Chivas are in last place in the Western Conference, but they are not in the worst current form. In the Last Clasico against the LA Galaxy this past week, Cubo Torres got a red card and ran off to the locker room. It seemed as though he wanted to get away from the game and this team to get to Mexican training camp. The star of the team needed a break.

The Rapids won four of their first eight games. In the 18 games since they have won four and that includes the current six-game losing streak. On this streak the Rapids have been outscored 19-6. They now have a minus-3 goal differential and sit four points out of the playoffs.
